Visual studio 2008을 프리리큇으로 하는 프로그램을 설치하게 되면서 Visual studio 2008 설치를 진행하는 데 다음과 같은 에러가 발생하였습니다.

An unsuccessful install of prior Windows Updates OR Custom MSI packages
could have left over faulty registry keys under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS

VC++ 2008을 설치중 위 에러 문구를 만나게 되면 이전 MSI packages설치시 registry찌꺼기가 남아있으니 아래의 프로그램을 깔고 다시 설치하면 될꺼다. 이정도가 되겠네요..
아래 프로그램을 설치하고 VC++ 2008을 재설치 해보니 잘 해결되었습니다.
